Horton Cabernet Franc 1997
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Vineyard: Horton Vineyards
Region: Virginia, Other US
This wine was 100% steel fermented and then barrel aged (new and once used American & French oak) for 18 months. Aromas of violets and tar combine with spicy oak flavors in this robust wine. Horton Cabernet Franc is the first in the United States using the traditional blending variety, Tannat. The result is a wine with a firm structure and a spicy finish. The 1997 vintage incorporates Touriga Nacional, a grape traditional used to make Port.
