Consilience Petite Sirah 2001
Varietal: Petite Sirah
Vineyard: Consilience
Region: Central Coast, California
The only thing Petite about this wine is the profit margin. This is again a huge, concentrated and inky wine carrying on the tradition of the original. There are subtle hints of tobacco leaves and other earthy flavors, but the thrust of this wine is its up front delivery of gobs of dark, rich berry flavors. There are firm, but not overly aggressive tannins that give the wine great structure, but not so much that you have to get up and dust yourself off after a sip. This wine will continue to improve with a couple more years of bottle age.
