Girard Cabernet Franc 2002
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Vineyard: Girard
Region: Napa Valley, California
"Ripened past franc's quirky herbal tones and caught at a moment when the flavors are still fresh, this wine has a dark, forest berry flavor and purity to its fruit. The texture is more voluptuous than cabernet franc usually offers, with merlot (10 percent) and small amounts of cabernet sauvignon, malbec and petit verdot rounding it out. The wine feels polished, lasting, with succulent raspberry tones embedded in the gentle tannins. A beauty for now or eight years from now."- 92 points- Wine & Spirits Magazine, June 2005 Cabernet Franc is a signature component of their Napa Valley Red blend. It displays strong aromatics and great berry flavors on the nose and palate.
The 2002 vintage was extraordinary and only 381 cases were made from their primary Oakville vineyard.
84% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petite Verdot.
